Day of Surgery

Local Anesthesia

The procedure you will be having will require a local anesthetic to the surgical area.  You may eat a light meal prior to your scheduled appointment.

I.V. Sedation

Please follow all instructions for your safety and to insure that we will be able to perform the scheduled surgical procedure. 

  1. Do NOT eat or drink 6 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

NOTHING BY MOUTH – NO WATER, COFFEE, GUM, MINTS, ETC.

(Doing so can be life threatening and will result in cancellation of your surgery.)

  1. You MUST have an escort with you that will be able to drive you home. You should also plan to have someone care for you through the evening.
  • Your driver must remain in the office from your arrival until you are discharged; they may not leave for any reason. Please be aware if your driver leaves the office at any point, your surgery will be rescheduled and your account charged $50.00.
  1. We ask please no more than 1 or 2 guests due to limited seating.
  2. Wear comfortable clothing with easily accessible arms.
  1. Please take all medications as you would routinely. Do not discontinue medications unless instructed to do so by your doctor.  Take with a small sip (less than one ounce) of water.

If you have been given antibiotics (ONLY follow these instructions if you have been told to do so)

You have been prescribed pre-surgical antibiotics.  Start your antibiotics one day prior to surgery.  In addition, please take one capsule, one hour prior to your scheduled appointment with a small sip (less than one ounce) of water.   

You have been prescribed pre-surgical antibiotics for antibiotic prophylaxis. Please take 4 capsules of your prescribed antibiotic one hour prior to your scheduled appointment with a small sip (less than one ounce) of water.

If you have been given Xanax (ONLY follow these instructions if there is a check in the box)

You have been prescribed pre-surgical Xanax.  Please take one tablet 90 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment with a small sip (less than one ounce) of water.  If you feel you need to or have been directed to, you may take the second tablet 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment with a small sip (less than one ounce) of water. 

ANY AND ALL MEDICATIONS MUST BE TAKEN WITH LESS THAN ONE OUNCE OF WATER TOTAL.

IT IS AN ESTIMATED 40-60 MINUTES AFTER YOUR ARRIVAL TIME BEFORE YOU ARE TAKEN BACK FOR SURGERY.

WE ESTIMATE YOU TO BE HERE FOR 2-3 HOURS DAY OF SURGERY
